Is anyone in Hawaii planning on participating in this years event?

I've been thinking about it but I'm still unsure as to what distance I should choose.

I ride it every year. Not crazy about going up Kalanianaole Hwy with a lot of people who are kind of clueless about riding in a crowd, but I just feel like it's important to show the flag.

I usually just ride the 25 mile course to Sandy Beach but one year I did the 50 to Kailua. The traffic thins out past Sandy's, the scenery is nice and it's flat. I'd say go for it if you feel up to it. Just bear in mind that the return leg is going to be a lot warmer than the ride out. Anyway, you can always change plans on the fly if you feel like it.

Ride the Century - the roads and traffic are lighter the further out you go. Try to start as close to the front as possible (they stagger the start so that Century riders go out first) in order to keep away from those that are destined to wreck you. Finally, have plenty of gears left when you start climbing some of the hills as riders will slow or stop in front of you without much warning. It is a great ride with exceptional scenery.

They're gonna try a new formula at the start this year:
Instead of the usual 100 milers leave first, then the 75s etc, there are going to be 4 classes.
Class A (elite roadies & wannabes) go first, then Bs (fit), Cs, (can ride), finally Ds (noobs & Freds).
I am not making this up -- should be interesting!

Not sure if im going to ride it or not... although if I do I'm going to try for the full century.

So, about a week to go, who all's doing it this year? Will there be a Team BF group? Somebody please convince me to come over and do this ride next year (I've already burned up all my PTO so this year's out). :)

I have been giving it some thought. I've only been riding since June and am up to about 50 mile rides right now. May just wait and do next years when I have a little more experience and confidence under my belt. Have never riden in a crowd of other riders.

I haven't been riding enough so I'm going to pass. The last time I was out on the road was the last time I rode with you! I've been on the trainer a few times, but not out on the road.
