Classic & Vintage - I think I am going to need a bigger shed...

It's happened. People are starting to realize I'm kind of serious about the bike thing, and now they are offering me all of their old bikes! I am running out of room already, and there are two more on the way...

I also have three requests to fix other people's bikes and one "please find me a road bike" commission.

Well I've got the 15+ bikes, but am not yet turning a wrench for a living.:D

I just got rid of two, so I'm down to six.

Sold one today - first in months (not because of demand, but because of supply. Could sell anything by the dozens down here if I could only find decent deals in need of repair).

+1 ditto on the supply thing. I have turned away many a seeker of 52-54cm bikes.
Seems the pink/teal Nishiki is not their style:o

I did go on a spree this week or so, 5 bikes, 4 in 58cm and 1 56cm. :innocent:

The storage shed, the wood shed, garage, spare room...

I thought I was going to stabilize my herd, but it looks like I will be picking up a couple of additions tomorrow.

This means I will be creaping toward 20 total bikes.

I was down to 44 bikes, working toward that goal of about 10 bikes. Then I rode by a garage sale. Then someone close by put a Centurion Accordo on CL for $50, my size too. Back up to 47 bikes.:bang:

I have the most ever projects, - 7. I currently have 3 road, 1 Tri, 2 MTB, and one SS in various states of build. 99% of the parts are on hand. One MTB is on Craigslist but while riding it this week there is some intermittent chain jump that's a real puzzle (random and many many crank revolutions between them).

Perhaps we could get Buglady and East Hill to hold spousal seminars in an effort to get our significant others to reach a higher level of understanding...................

I've reached the critical problem: At present I've got nine road bikes hanging on the garage wall, my heavy tourer on the floor, and my just finished mountain bike (yes, it's summer again, I built another mountain bike) in the remaining floor space. And the hybrid stored at work.

At which point, I'm out of allotted space. :cry: And can't make more, as the five motorcycles and a scooter do have some claim to the floor space.

No doubt the mountain bike will be gone by Labor Day. This is habitual. Every summer I get the bright idea that I'll like mountain biking this time around. And every year, within six weeks, I come to the conclusion that I'm a roadie. And I'll do it again next year.

But until then, there's no room for other projects. And I'm already starting to store a few frames in the attic . . . . . .

+1, 12 personal bikes, another 30+ waiting for finishing touches. I work at a bike shop too. My latest problem is getting some of the bikes I have finished. I often don't want to work on bikes after doing it for 8 hours a day. My work shop is in the basement and I have had to branch out for more storage so I have starting hanging bikes from the rafters in the garage. That is currently the prestaging area for the flippers. Once I get a few bikes finished and up on CL they will move the hooks in the garage and then those will move to the basement to be worked on, eventually!

Lemme see what I have in the works...

The girl's Pug needs to be stripped and repainted in lovely shade of sage green before I put things back together... she will have to be here so I can make sure everything fits her perfectly too.

The little girl's '72 Raleigh has been powdercoated and has to go back together after I lace some new wheels to the hubs.

My '88 Kona Explosif is back from the powdercoaters (and I still don't have a pic) and is just waiting to be assembled... drool.

The 1933 CCM needs to be stripped down for a repaint and a rebuild.

I have wheels to build for my mtb since I was given some new Sun CR 18 hoops...:D

It does keep me off the roof.

And dang if I didn't get those back ordered suspension forks for the 20's today...

I average 35-40, three are in the house. The rest are in a two car garage also inhabited by a full size conversion van, and some tables. Four to five of them are being readied for sale, so it will go down a bit.
They've been cutting back at work, so I'm now getting back into flipping again.,,,,BD

Wow. Envious doesn't even begin to say how I feel about folks with "unlimited storage". I guess I/we need to move. Four bikes, three hung up in our garage, no basement, no backyard... although the weather is really nice in "silicone valley!"... .

My collection could really use another bike. (thus making my total two)

I run a retirement home for old abandoned bikes... the oldest resident is 75 years old.

I once mused to a freind that if I won the lottery I might buy a bikeshop just cuz it would be fun to do but he pointed out to me that if I actually ran the place I'd end up being at work all the time when you'd really rather be out riding. Not sure how that works out for you.

I rode 16000 km last year and I don't own any garage queens... they all get ridden.

I'll have to get better at wrenching before I take it up as more than a hobby... turns out my jiggered rear derailleur was from routing the cable incorrectly. Oops. However, the guys at Cyclepath were very nice about it and THREE of them commented on the "sweet old bike."* So that is now my official favourite shop.

* I may also have been wearing a bike themed t-shirt... kind of a snug one :D

After riding the BRC around in one gear for a week, I am starting to appreciate the single speed thing. There's an elegance to it. *eyes Miyata thoughtfully*
