Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - is fitday.com accurate?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've found that the "at-rest" basic metabolic calorie burn rate is overestimated - that's one benefit of the full version, you can customize "My Metabolism" to a lower rate. I've modified it for me to a basic rate of about 2,500 calories, with about 8h of sleep and 13h of inactivity.
yes, I paid $20 for the full version when a perfectly good piece of software was available free. Now I just have to get back into the habit of using it.
Fitday does a good job of telling you the calorie content in food, but greatly over-estimates how many calories you burn in general. According to their calculations, when I'm eating about 500 fewer calories per day than I burn, I actually gain weight.
The estimates for calories burned during working out are extremely over-estimated. If fitday says that I burned about 1000 calories during a ride, my heart rate monitor indicates that I only burned about 700-750 calories. And I think that the heart rate monitor gives too-large a number as well.
Hope this helps.

It seems to be high on the calories burned.

Thx for the feedback. The 'cals burned' information for me was really secondary to the food nutrient analysis. I have a decent idea of what my cycling burns for me per hours based on an average of a number of different calculators.

Set the "calories burned" to "sedentary/bed bound" and it works fine.
