when these TDF riders suddenly pull off to take a nature break, obviously the cameras aren't around. They seem to get back into the mix pretty quickly however, and one would assume they are draining the main vein.

I would think it would be terribly awkward to attempt to relieve oneself by the roadside in full cycling regalia, especially if one suddenly realized a tremendous arse-blast was imminent. Do the team cars carry toilet paper for these guys as well or do the riders just pull the dog-next-door move and drag the rump on the grass ;-)

yes the are peeing and you will notice they do it when the peloton is moving at a casual pace and they will usually do it with a few other riders so they can do work together to get back, they will also use the slipstream of the team cars to work their way back just like after a fall
