At the end of my ride today I tackled Cantelow, west to east. I had barely rounded the first left curve when I spied ahead of me a large dump truck. I quickly geared way down and got off the bike and off the road. (Had I continued to ride the driver's side mirror would have clipped my helmet.) He was pulling a trailer, as well. :wtf: I thought maybe he'd taken a wrong turn.

On the east side, about a mile from the top, is a new home construction site. There were a number of dump trucks up there, and two more made room for me as I continued down the hill. They look out of place up there; yet they're making room for bikes. Maybe this won't be so bad after all.

So weekday riders, be prepared to share with the Peterbilts and the Kenworths. Weekends? Maybe not so much.

Yikes. That sounds worse than the wild turkeys strolling across the road I almost ran into a couple of years ago.

I saw baby turkeys but none were in the road. A kamikaze squirrel dashed out during my descent and I thought for sure I'd hit him w/my back tire, but no blow -- lucky him.

Weekdays might be sketchy so just be aware. I imagine weekends will be okay. Except for the animals.

Thanks for the heads up. We were going to head out there sometime this weekend. Some contractors will occasionally work into the weekend with accompanying traffic.
