Spaniard Manuel Beltrán has become the 2008 Tour de France's first doping positive. The Liquigas rider's A sample tested positive for the banned blood booster erythropoeitin following the first stage which ended in Plumelec last Saturday.

And 9 others had "abnormal blood values" from the pre-tour testing. They won't be reprimanded, but thier teams will be notified for health reasons.

Don't forget the nandralone positive by Benoit Joachim way way back (2000?). He was duly sacked and then rehired. He was on the Tour team the next year and for many years afterwards.

Agreed..... he covered the dope pretty well.... And some wonder why Astana wasnt invited to the tour
