Hi everyone!

I'm a new member to the bikeforums site, and I am the proud new owner of a beautiful GIANT OCR1W. That being said, I'm itchin' to get this bike on the road!

Does anyone know where I can find some good quality road rides in the Genesee/Oakland County area? As a runner, I have done Paint Creek several times and love it, but I'm not sure if I should take my bike on a nonpaved trail....

Anyone got any rides to share?

Thanks,
Lisa :)

The Macomb Orchard Trail is a good (paved) route for road bikes. The miles up near Romeo are lightly traveled if you're looking for speed. The trail starts at Dequindre & 24-mile on the Oakland-Macomb county border (park in the Onyx Ice Arena lot) and runs up to 32-mile east of Van **** (soon to go a few miles farther). About 11 miles one way.

For just some practice in a scenic setting, Stoney Creek Metropark is very popular with road riders. There is a 6-miles road loop that can easily be extended to 10 miles with an added out-and-back. Park at the boat ramp parking area and you'll see lots of riders around.

You can also look up web sites for the Clinton River Riders and the Slow Spokes bike clubs for group rides on roads in the area. Most people now have to go into northern Macomb Co. to find paved roads without a lot of traffic (for now).

By the way, Stoney Creek is also popular with runners. My running club meets there every Saturday morning (year round) at 8AM as well as some Sundays.

I found this link through a local bike club website. I haven't been able to check it out yet (the site is blocked at my work). It sounds like they mostly do their riding in Detroit.
