Eastern Canada - Guy on DVP: Cyclist or Pedestrian?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A couple of days ago, someone was walking or riding his bike on the DVP (there's at least one witness who said that he was riding) and was hit by a car. The police has charged him as being a pedestrian (for now). But is he really a pedestrian as he was walking or is he a cyclist? (Darwin award nominee is a given in either case.)

Sorry, dude. Darwin award requires the guy to remove himself from the gene pool.

I think we have to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He may be really unfamiliar with the area. I don't think anyone would do that on purpose. So perhaps he accidentally found his way onto an onramp, and then was lost and panicked.

j-walking a highway makes you a moron regardless of how you got there. Why would he get off the shoulder once he was on the highway?
