Long Distance Cycling - Toronto to Niagara ride

Has anyone done this before? I'm trying to plan out the best path to take. I don't want to be like one of those guys who ride on the DVP and get hit( this is for those who have been following the toronto news. http://www.thestar.com/article/457985 )

I've only gone as far as Hamilton, but I think that if you take the Lakeshore, it's pretty straightforward.

Basically, you can take the Waterfront Trail and/or Lakeshore Blvd down to Hamilton then try to hit Highway 8 (?) which is inland. The Waterfront Trail does go on to Ste Catharines but it's along the lake after Hamilton which makes it a very boring ride.

I did this last year. The Waterfront Trail is great until past the Skyway, but then it becomes the QEW service road, which was a drag.

I did this ride ten years ago. I don't think the route has changed much. It started at High Park, then took Bloor to Burnhamthorpe, following that all the way to 1st Sideroad, then to I think Brant St. (Burlington). Then straight down to Lakeshore Rd., taking that around to Stoney Creek. We eventually made it up the escarpment to Ridge Road (very scenic and fairly quiet). We continued over to Fly Rd. (general store in Campden) on to 6th Ave. past Ball's Fall's, down to 8th Ave. to Decew Rd. I'm not sure what we did after that, but worked our way over to Chippawa Parkway, to Niagara Parkway, then up a bit to Niagara Falls to our motel.
The next day, we headed up the parkway to Niagara-on-the-Lake, to St. Catherines and pretty much followed the same route back to Toronto. Hope I've helped!

I did it a couple of weeks ago or a ride around the lake.
I took the Lakeshore all the way to Burlington.
From there I took the Bike Path along Lakeshore Road to Confederation Park and then the North Service Road all the way to Port Weller/Welland Canal. Theres a bike path along the Canal to Queenston Road which i followed right to the Niagara River at Queenston. You can then follow a bike path along the Niagara River all the way to Niagara Falls.
