So, today at SuperWeek directly after the race some dumb SOB from a WI team made a comment to my team as we were doing our cooldown lap. It was particularly ironic, as I will explain shortly.

[dripping sarcasm from said ******] ******: Hey, did you guys lose a few guys out there?

Me to teammate: Is he trying to make fun of us?

Teammate: Maybe. There's only 7 of us here, out of what, 9?

Teammate #2: Wait. Didn't they ALL crash into the barriers with two laps to go?

Anyone else think it's rather hilarious for someone to make a comment about us having 9 out of 150 starters, and "only" have 7 present for a f-ing cooldown, when their team had one (1) rider finish?

And ever had anyone say that sort of thing to you?

Nope. Real men ride unattached.

Just ask that one guy who finished how his lead out was.

I saw a team of 6 guys all congratulate (high 5's, "your a hammer")each other after a RR last year and none of the team podiumed or got close.

That would be classic.

Nothing wrong with that, especially if just finishing together was the goal. I congratulate myself for finishing in the pack after every crit that I can successfully do so, because I'm just not good at crits.

Are you sure he wasn't kidding and trying to be friendly? You finished with 7, he finished with 1....

There are days in the 2's or Masters at Super Week where that would be an appropriate action.

you are way too sensitive.

I wasn't offended by it or hurt in the least.

I just thought it was rather funny for someone to try to make fun of us, and rather poorly at that, right after his team ate wooden barrier with 3 laps to go.

Agreed. I was in the back 1/3rd for the vast majority of the race. Middle of the field for decent stretches, but all too often I could look back and see less than 20 guys behind me. The only time I cracked the top 20 or so was surfing our points leader up to the top 15 with 2 to go, then getting involved in a man sandwich between a Jittery Joe's rider and a Kahala Lagrange dude who somehow managed to fit himself into the <6" gap I left between myself and the curb. Thought I was about to meet St. Peter at that point.

It looks like Bahati had it after last night's race. The article on his blog said he won four of the five point sprints in stage 2. There are also two pictures with "official" looking jerseys. One white and one red. I'm assuming a stage winner and points jersey. I can't remember, is the points jersey at Superweek like the tour? Points sprints and stage placings; or just points sprints?

If I'm not mistaken, the final sprint also counts for the Sprint Competition and that holds true for the 140k Holy Hill Road Race as well. It always seemed weird that the big road race of the series was also a points race, but that's how it's always been.

It's going to be hard to beat Rock Racing but there are numerous other strong teams present as well.

It's going to be a great series!!

ChicagoBikeRacing.Com has a great weekend review up now. Good job Luke. http://emoticons4u.com/happy/009.gif
