The more I ride in the winter, the more I like it! I rode the single-track with one other rider today, and it was great! When we started the ride, there was only about 1 inch of snow on the ground, then the skies let loose. Hhere's a pic from today's ride:

We had to jump over a small stream, as no one was willing to plod through 3 feet of freezing water. Here's a pic. Unfortunately, I snapped it just a second too early. He did (and me later!) make the jump, though!

The pic of you on a bike on the trail is beautiful! I dream of taking rides like that.

I changed my commute from work recently, so that I ride right next to a frozen creek. It is peaceful and so pretty, that I have new found enthusiasm for winter biking, which I had started to grumble about occasionally.

I like to think that it's the journey that's important, not the final destination, but after work, I feel it's a little of both.

Icerat, there are some nice single tracks along Minihaha! And the paths around Ft. Snelling are nice right now. Could be better with some snow. I haven't checked out the Cedar Lake single track lately, but I've heard some MTBers like night riding out that way, and through Wirth Park. If that's not to your liking there is always the crushed limestone of the Luce line or LRT that heads to Jordan.
Maybe see you on the trails.

I am now riding along Minihaha creek and around Lake Harriet. I've ridden 20 yards out on the lake, where there is snow. That is enjoyable and a good workout. I have to have snow on ice, because I never sprung for those fancy studded tires. I'm saving up for a Bikes at Work trailer, to add to my collection.

If you ever see a Red jacketed, ninja looking cyclist on a red or silver Trek, Thats me! I'll wave if I recognize you from one of your pic-posts. I also bike the white greenway alot, which is obviously popular with you.

Thanks for the suggestions, and happy trails to you.

I used to ride at night until I almost hit a racoon. After that, I started wondering what would have happened if it had been a skunk.
