This is a shout out to all the tandems who rode the Triple Bypass yesterday. Nice work everyone!!! We had an amazing day for our ride with no rain! We did not get a chance to talk to many of you at the finish as we had to catch our ride home, so we thought we'd send a quick note to the group.

For those of you who don't know about the Triple Bypass, its 120 miles over 3 mountain passes (10,000 ft of climbing - with the lowest point of the ride at about 7,500 ft).

It's fun to get the surprising looks and comments from all the 1/2 bikes. Tandems are quite rare on this ride, my guess is there could have been up to 20 on this ride with a limit of 3500 riders. There are not many parts of the ride that are flat or moderate down, but we sure found people on our wheel for those short bits, then they're off when the road turned up. We did get a nice paceline for the final 10-15 miles, which seems to always be into a headwind.

NICE WORK TANDEMS!!!! (half bikes too)

Hello from Pacific Northwest,

Great job guys!!
We also have one 10.000' event here. Ramrod ( ride around Mt. Rainier ) 150 miles and 2-3 climbs
Here becouse national park they have limit to 700 riders or so and only hand full tandems do it ( 4-10 )
We done it on couple of times and yes, single bikes give you look at all the times!

Again great job! good to see tandems doing epic rides as Triple Bypass.
Some day we would love to join you guys.
Best,
Lescycling

We did it on our Ventana. But I had some seat issues, So we bailed in Frisco. about 85 miles. Great ride anyway. How were the headwinds climbing up to vail pass? We saw maybe 4 other tandems. My stoker ordered a Cannondale tandem 2 a couple weeks ago. It will interesting to compare the difference between a fs mt tandem with slicks and a true road tandem. I won't try the road tandem in the dirt I think I know the result.

We tandemed the triple for the first time yesterday! Had a great time on our red Santana Sovereign. We didn't have wind on the Vail climb, just the descent. You can check out our pics here:

We have considered doing this for several years but just haven't signed up in time.

I know several guys who did it on their singles. Looks like the weather this year was near ideal - as opposed to earlier years with cold & rain or very hot & dry.

So some details: How long start to finish? How long in the saddle? Average speed? What was your max speed & where?

Congratulations!
