Can I buy replacements at any lbs? Or now that I have the thing apart, should I upgrade to better pads?

I use Kool-Stop Thinline All Weather Brake Pads on my Curve. Nice stopping power, even in wet weather.

Definitley upgrade to better pads, although the calipers themselves are shyte. Koolstops as mentioned before. The v-brake type should work very well.

It'll be up to you to decide whether or not you want the black, salmon or dual compound on your bike. Best pads on the market.

I couldn't get the Koolstops at the lbs but the mechanic reccommended something else that looked similar. At least it gets me up and running again. I didn't get a new set for the front, and kinda' regret not having done so. Once I got the other pad off, I realized that was in bad shape too, so I'm sure the front are no better.

Really crummy pads, I must say. Dahon should be ashamed of themselves. They look hardly worn, but the metal is through.

I'll go back for the front ones another day.

I always buy the best brake pads available for all of my bikes. I use the Kool Stops ones. And when you go to a bike shop, try to find one where there are people who care about bikes and the people who ride them safety.
