Road Cycling - affordable "colored" tires?

Hi all, can you give me some advice on tires?

It's time for me to get some new tires I think, and I really like the kind with a bright yellow/red/or blue stripe in the rubber. As you can see I'm not too worried about top performance or construction -- I'm choosing them on looks mostly because I'm not a hardcore racer or anything, so I don't need the top of the line tires (which are the models where I seem to see the colored stripe usually).

So any recs on a good looking cheap(er) tire (but of reasonable quality) to spruce up my bike for the spring? (700x20 tires)

ps. while I'm at it, can I ask what would be the advantage of switching to the 700x23 tires instead of 700x20 (what I have now)?

There are a bunch of Vittoria tires that come in
a variety of colours. I'd say the Rubino Pro is a good
tire, not too expensive.
Also check e-bay there are alot of them around.

Try Kenda Concepts. They come in yellow, red, blue and black and can be bought at Supergo for $19. Occasionally they put them on sale for $10. They are light (225g), corner great, and look nice.

Colored is'nt suppose to last as long.23's work for non racing.The streets are not very forgiving.

The Kenda's are $14.95 at Jensen.

Just bought some for use on the rollers. I'll save the Michelin Pro Race tires for spring. The Kenda Concept tires work very well!

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the grand prix 3000. its a great tire, and it comes in several colors. right now, I have the yellow tread w/ black sidewalls. you can get it for around 35 bucks if you look around. I got mine from bike tires direct. a good vendor, imho.

Rubino Pros... 29.99 at most shops, they last forever.

The grand prix 3000 aren't as cheap and ride a little bit rougher. It's what I have, but I love them.. they seem to love me too . barely ever get flats

anyway, you say that the gp3000s are rough riding compared to rubinos? thats kinda odd, after switching from my irc redstorm tires that came on my lemond, the gp3000s felt like heaven! and the rubinos are even better? I gotta try some of them!

Maxxis makes tires (who knew?) with blue or red stripes. The Dentonator (blue) is $20 at my LBS.

700 x 23's are generally more puncture resistant than 20's. Don't ask me why. Heard comments from some of the riders at the club i'm in. Most of us are using at least 23's for our winter training rides. 20's can be pumped to a higher pressure though and do look better in my view. Classic look and all that.

23's are thicker..that's why they are more comfortable and less prone to punctures.

23s are wider, not thicker. I weigh 190, I ride on crappy Boston roads, and have had 2 flats in the last 3 years. Both of those were valve stem related, not punctures. In the 8 years I have had my Bianchi, I have used Continetal Grand Prix or Panaracer Stradius Pro tires in 700x20, and inflated to 120psi with NO PUNCTURE PROBLEMS.
