Northern California - Place to test-ride a Brompton in San Francisco?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi! The message pretty much says it all. Living in Oakland my Xtracycle was all the bike I ever wanted; now I'm in SF and I want something smaller to go with it. Who has the best selection of folders? I'm pretty sold on the Brompton but I'd like to try a couple others out just for balance's sake. Thanks!

Go to the Folding Bike section of Bike Forums. There are tons of discussion on which bike is best....

Thanks, but I'm looking for a place, in San Francisco, where I can actually test ride folders. Particularly a Brompton.

I've done some reading. :-) I'm looking to ride... this is a topical post

It's too bad you missed yesterday's FolderFest, I believe we had one Brompton there.

Yeah! I found out about it literally a couple hours after it happened! That'd be a hoot: my scooting along on my oversized Xtracycle surrounded by clown wheels. :-)

Actually, we had that. There was a guy on an XtraCycle who rode with us. He was with Warm Planet Bikes.

Sounds like an entertaining time alright... wish I could have made it

So some people have folders... where did you buy them? I'm new to San Francisco and don't know the bike shops. Anybody who specializes in that kind of bike? Thanks!

I think the only authorized Brompton dealer here in the Bay Area is located in Palo Alto: C.M. Wasson. I test-rode at his place when I purchased mine. It might be a trek for you to go from SF down to Palo Alto, but I imagine he'd have the largest stock available for you to choose from.

It's a bit of a hike, yeah. But thanks; that's probably where I'll go.

Or maybe just chill and wait for the next folder fest. :P

Thanks again!

Warm Planet at 4th/Townsend. The only bikes they carry are folders!

Open from 6:45 AM-8PM
weekdays. Take BART to Embarcadero and transfer to the N or T to Caltrain or just walk/ride down the embarcadero.
