Hi all.

I am planning to get a full face helmet. So far, 661, and TLD wont fit my head. My other options are Fox Tracer MX/DH helmet with Dot and Snell approval and the Bell Bellistic DH and Uvex DH. The thing is that Fox had great quality (same as the TLD non-carbon) and is 1450gr whereas the bell is 1000gr with more vents but is much less stronger/safer. My question is, should i go with a proper MX helmet which gives you more protection and more quality for your money or should i get a bike helmet? Any recommendations will be more than helpfull . My head size is 62.5cm so any helmets listed up to 61-62cm wont fit me unless they have a supersize fit in general (for example 661 have tight fit regardless of the XL size).

Which ever is most comfortable to you.
If you will be using the helmet for stricly dh and no sustained climbs or xc rides then an mx helmet works fine. Since it will be a bit hotter you should take it off between runs to let your head cool on hot days.

The Bell may work for you because of the shape of the helmet. It tends to fit larger heads.

What is your $$ limit? There is a company in Germany that makes a helmet that will fit you but they are pricey

Well the Fox helmet is up to my size...and has the best quality i have seen. My only restrain is that it may be a bit heavy. The bell is listed for up to 61cm and i have heard many (unconfirmed) stories that if you crash with a bell you ll hit whereas with an MX helmet you ll walk away. Whats that German company by the way?

Since the 661/TLD won't fit you, go with the Fox.

Cratoni (http://www.cratoni.com/)

I believe their dh helmet runs around 350€ or so. I had one that I used for racing the last 2 years and it is a very nice helmet. Super light and good venting.

go on safety, more extreme downhill races, more durable and not too heavy full face, less extreme free riding/ racing go with lighter and lil less durable full face. also let comfort come into play, dont wanna ride with anything that would restrain your ability to preform well.
