Mountain Biking - How much is my bike worth?

I've had the same bike for a few years now, and I wanna sell it and get a new bike. The bike I have is a 98' Specialized Hardrock FS sport, this is a big bike top tube measures 23" (long wheel base), its in perfect condition, it was completly rebuilt last year, many of the parts were upgraded to better and higher quality parts, steel frame, its never been crashed, the front suspension fork was replaced with a rigid fork, over all the whole bike is in better than new condition - because of all the upgrades made.

I was thinking of selling it for around $150 -$175
does that sound good? should I ask higher or lower?

The reason I wanna sell it is because its a bit outdated, I want a bike with an aluminum frame, suspension and disc brakes! I know an ower of a bike shop, I can get a really good deal, dont worry.....$500 will get me something like that.. :D

Rigid? Hmmm...If you gave component specs it would help a lot. A lot of bike newbies will pay top dollar for the Specialized name though, I don't know why...

Check ebay, right now there are 6 Specialized Hardrock bikes with bids from 40.99 to 199.00 How does yours compare with these?

To be honest, the size is going to hurt the sale more than anything else. IMO if you can get $150, consider it sold.... Add the $50 it will cost the buyer to ship it, then the Buyer will have $200 in a 4 yr. old H'Tail, that's too big for 90% of us....

save your pennies and get your new bike but i think you should make the bike you have right now into a single speed.

Single speed bikes make you a better rider in more ways than you can imagin.

Size will hurt the price.. the rigid fork.. and the age.. Honestly I would guess you would get around $100.. Now if components were upgraded to XTR you would get quite a bit more :)

You could sell the frame alone for about $50.. then keep the extra parts for yourself :)

I'd guess 50-150 bucks for it, although I wouldn't get it...Offer it as a beater/SS...

It'll be worth more hanging on your shop wall as deco. Strip all the parts and use them when you need them later, that way you'll save more later than you'll get out of it now...

Yeah, thats prolly the best idea, because $150-200 dosnt sound like much!!!!!!
