I have a GT Backwoods with shimano deore HB-M510 hubs, i have looked at the left hand side of the hub where the disc will go but there does not seem to be any way a disc could be accepted, also are cable operated disc brakes worth it or no currentl have deore v brakes....thanks in advance

A disc compatible hub would have attachment points on its left side. The fork would also have a mounting boss for the caliper assembly, so I'm afraid you may be out of luck without replacing more than just the brakes.
