Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So when these guys are riding so many hours, I would think they are eating a little more than gels and fluids/cytomax.
Are they sneaking bananas, PB, bars, ensure or anything?
When you are cruising along for so long, what do you take that doesnt need to be peeled or whatnot?
Anybody try ensure? (Ive been working with geriatrics to long)
Cakes/tarts
Ham/cheese rolls (or sardine rolls if you're Allan Peiper :D )
power bars
gels
Cans of coke
bananas/fruit
Carbohydrate drinks, eg. Extran

ed073: I thought Peiper was a vegetarian. Or does he have asthma? I remember having something in common with him.

Prob both....don't some vegos still eat seafood? Can't be that hardcore if he's running the hotdog/escargot van @ the Ronde.

...Are they sneaking bananas...
I know I make a lot of references to man-junk, but come on. That one's too easy to even entertain.

The no BS story from the folks at Pez:
http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=5097
Dirk Nightengale, one of the Belgian soigneurs for Quick Step, described the contents of each bag. “There are bottles… one is carbohydrate and one bottle with a tonic. Then we put half a banana, a bar and carbohydrate jells in there. That little bottle there contains 200 calories, and we also put one little bread with banana and inside. And then another tart, like an apple tart.”
Add it all up…and it’s about 1,000 calories. Nearly half the daily intake for a normal human…a human not riding in the Tour de France.
