My dad's old roommate from school is going on a killer bike tour. Starting at Harper's Ferry Armoury in Maryland and ending at Gettysburg battlefield. They will be stopping at several civil war battlefields along the way and riding in them also. I really want to plan something similar starting from my school in Central PA, through Amish country where it should be bike friendly (hope I dont get Carted over:roflmao2:) and to Gettysburg. Anyone done a similar ride and know of good routes?
You might want to check the touring forum. I think some of them have ridden in that area. :)

Check the cue sheet for the recently-held Shenandoah 1200K (see the link off the RUSA website). We rode through a lot of the terrain you're describing on the first day and it was, indeed, spectacular. Riding through Gettysburg early on a weekday morning was very moving -- no one else around and the battlefield was totally still and quiet. The road choices on the S1200 cue sheet for Day 1 were all good, without exception.
