Asking for opinions on this, riding here in the high desert and riding on rural roads which are very narrow and hazardous. Saw the Cateye Ld600 and Vistalite VO707 on the web but not in person.User thoughts would be great and better products i've missed to look into would be even better. Thanks
The vistalite may be a bit more flexible as it comes with a clip that can be used to attach the rear of a seatbag, your jersey, etc. The Cateye has no clip and must be attached to the supplied strap.
I have both of these items. I have the cateye mounted to the left seatstay (vertical) on one bike and clip the Vistalite to the rear seatbag on another.
Both units are very bright and visible in daylight and have reasonable battery life.
I just got a Specialized Afterburner - this thing is great. Only 2 LEDs - but exteamly bright. I just started commuting again (all in daylight) - but I wanted somthing strong, there are a couple high traffic roads on the commute. My LBS suggested this - very light - claimed 90 burn time (flashing). and very mountable (and stealable - no tools, just a rubber strap) - post, stays, pack, you name it - and it cost $14 w/ batteries (which are the flat watch style ~ $1.25 X 2 to replace). Don't look straight at it when you first turn it on.
