I've never had any luck dealing with that shop, although I've never been there and have just tried asking questions by phone or email. My observation is that they are very triathlon-oriented as opposed to serving just recreational cyclists.

It's way on the other side of town, but Fraser Cycle also carries Felt and they are (IMO) the best road-bike specialists in the area. Continental Cycle (Hazel Park) is also pretty good.

I know the people at Bikesport. the owner and his wife are the real deal when it comes to rideing(tri people) so I dont think they would jerk you around for no reason. these things do happen, its just bad luck. I understand your how you feel, but remeber the bike will come you are just overly excited about it coming in now (no one can blame you, and thats not bad). do you live far? if not go into the shop and BS with them about it, dont act upset or mad and they have alot of eye candy in there as, well I've seen a few really nice bikes there. they are not doing this to you on purpose believe me.

I live a block away from BikeSport, and the owner and his staff have always treated me great. I started out as a beginning cyclist with them, and have done my business with them ever since.

This time of year with the change of models can be rather trying for bikeshops I am sure if you bring up that you ae upset The owner will probably cut you a deal with some other purchases.

Sounds like typical later-season supply issues, though happening a bit sooner than usual. It sounds like Bike Sport is dealing with as much uncertainty as you are.

I've run into this at other shops. Last year I ordered a set of custom wheels around this time of summer, needing Mavic Reflexes. After the builder thought "it should be no problem" and investigated, we found the rims were delayed several times from Mavic. Finally after about three months (wheels were for a build not an event) I cancelled the rims and scored some NOS from a local seller. The builder gladly took the price of the Reflexes off my bill, got the right spokes, and in a week I had finished wheels.

Don't damage the relationship at this point. Express your feelings, but allow that Felt might not have anticipated the high demand of this year's market, and you and the shop might be caught in the middle. Bikes are not made "just in time" by the bike factories.

There's a lot good at that shop, and yes they specialize in tri, but they are respected because they're capable of good service to demanding people. Give 'em another chance.

Im not sure it this guy was the owner (the thin guy about ~37 named Tom?) but he was very nice and did a great job fitting her and Im sure the bike will fit great. That is the main reason I went with a local shop.

The main thing that really upsets me is that I was told 2 1/2 - 3 weeks and they seem to be making little effort to answer my question as to when the bike will be in. Even if they can not get a direct answer from Felt at least call me back and let me know.....

yes tom is the owner. Try to think of it like this. They want your bike to come in as much as you and they are just as upset about felt jerking them around. what are they supposed to tell you, would you rather they place the blame on felt and bad mouth them? that will not happen, Tom's been selling felts for as long as i have been going there, not going to happen. they are just as fusterated as you are, I'm sure. also once you receive the bike I can promise you that there support and help is second to VERY few. they are more then happy to help and most of the time if its a small part (cable inner...) they just hand it to you. beat that!

I just wanted to let you all know that I spoke with Tom and Felt and they both are doing everything they can to fix my issue. They surly understood my concern and want to do right.

Tom did call Felt a while back to check on the bike but I just did not get informed. But both Felt and Tom where very sincere about what happened and they did set everything right.

Felt just really got a lot of orders and was not able to get everyone their bikes as quick as they'd like.

Like I said before, when my girlfriend went in for her fitting and Tom took a great deal of time with her and answered any questions she had. He was very in the know with fitting a bike and making sure she gets on the right bike. I did not mean to sound like I was giving Bike Sport bad press I was just concerned.

I will continue to do business with them as well as other local shops.
Thanks all for listening.

No problem, 17inch!

I'm really glad to hear that Tom is a great fitter - I might want to go there.

I stopped by BikeSport today, told Tom about this thread, and he gave me half off on a new Hincapie Felt jersey Thanks O.P.

BTW the Hincapie Jersey is very nice.
