how do I find out where Time trial events are? I usually go to racesonline.com for tris/road bike races, but don't know where to look for time trials (are they only found on stage races like tour de Georgia? I live in Mississippi, but am willing to go to Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, etc, as long as they are for super amateurs :D. (and one last question, i know average speed is never a good factor to use as a determinant of skill because every course is different, but over a flat 40km course, generally, what is a good average?)
thanks for the time.

The TT's in NY are often listed on this site.

thanks!
ok one followup question. At what speed would you get to before going to a time trial? Ex. Its obvious nobody here would dare go with a 15 or 19 average; but what would you work up to before even trying? Right now Id be on the super slow side of right on 21 average for 20 km, hoping to bring it up to 24 by next spring, would that be a modest speed?

Also check out your local cycling clubs for TT's closer to home...

As to what speed before entering. Other than Opens events, there will be a mix of all abilities... Just enter and race!
