Anyone who was following the Tour at work on the justin.tv/giac2007 channel just received this....
"Content from this channel removed at the request of the copyright holder. This channel will be accessible again in 24 hours."
I laughed because I can watch the replay on versus at home later but the guy that was streaming this was kind of an ass.
For one thing, he was requesting donations because it would keep him "motivated" for the hard work. If he had said that he needed it for bandwidth allocation, maintenance of a server, etc., that would have been different. Anyone who has experience streaming media to the internet knows that's really not that difficult. I ran a shoutcast radio station for a good four years, and while time consuming at first, I did it for the love of the content I was streaming.
I got into an argument with this kid about his dumb comment, and how it was dangerous of him to be openly requesting money to stream copyrighted material. He wasn't streaming it because he enjoyed cycling and was trying to provide something not available on the internet. Well it looks like it bit him in the ass today.
The bad news is that it bit him right in the last 3km of today's stage! I guess it'll have to wait until my lunch break.
:peace:
