Hi All,

I'm going to be spending five days in SF in Feb. Can anyone recommend a place that would hire me a decent mtb?
I'd be looking at trying out some trails over in Marin County - is this feasible? Anyone got any suggestions?

I’m leaving cold dreary London and the excitement of riding on some of the busiest and maddest roads I’ve ever seen (what a blast) and returning to the Great Southern Land – long roads, top trails and sun – bliss!

Thanks in Advance!

I don't know any places that will rent mountain bikes, but I'm sure there should be a few out there.

As for riding, Marin has some very scenic trails. This site will list some great rides in that area:

Hope this helps.

Try this site My Bike Site (http://www.mybikesite.com/norcal/)

Local riders from the area so they should be able to give you some advice.
Be warned though, you may encounter some idiots that just like to flame others.

I think Blazing Saddles is the most popular rental company people use when they visit SF. They have a number of branches in various parts of the city. If you're going to be staying near Fisherman's Wharf, they are probably your best bet. I think they have hybrids and mountain bikes and maybe even a couple of road bikes. This is their website:

You can get route maps from Blazing Saddles on where to go.

I'd recommend a short ride to the Marin Headlands and Rodeo Beach. It's an easy ride that's close enough to do in a couple of hours. If you have more time and want to do a more exciting ride, Mount Tam (Tamalpais) is where you want to go. Most of the trails are fire roads but once you're up in the hills it's just beautiful. You might even consider riding down to Stinson Beach or Alpine Dam and coming back up. There's a bit of climbing involved but the beautfiul scenery is well worth the effort.

Enjoy your stay in the city!
