Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello to all. Looking forward to participating in the Forum. I'm very interested in learning all I can about installing and maintaining Ultergra components as I'm building my first frame out and although I've got some great books and
have found some great web sites (Park Tool's for instance) some things are not covered. I've also got some older frames, wheels, and parts I'd be interested in trading or selling. My current ride is a 59cm White Lemond Zurich with Ultegra components. I alternate between the Rolf comp wheels it came with and a set of Rolf Pros that I bought used from a friend along with a Trek Y-Foil fame (I plan to build this bike for time trials). I've only had steel frames so far but I just love the ride of the Lemond. The frame I'm building out now is a blue Zurich. My plan is to have a sister setup so I can evaluate new equipment against the old at my leisure and when mechanical issues come up I will have the identicle item available for comparison. It will also be nice to be able wash the bikes when It's convienant, but always have a clean lubed ride available. If there's somebody who has worked on Shimano gear regularly and wouldn't mind anwering questions, I'd be greatful.

Welcome to the forums Cokes,
I am from miami and I did a bit of riding around 'town' to prepare for my tour. I am curious where you do most of your riding. I got a 'heavy' mountainbike but maybe when I get back into town, we can do some rides together. I am off the tour for now but I still wanna keep in shape!
What part of Miami to you live in and what bike shop(s) do you use?
There are quite a few south florida bikers on bikeforums.
Peace
Dave

Hey Dave,
World traveler ha! Sound awsome. Wish I could do that.
I live in South Miami near the Univesity of Miami. I like Cycle World
on Bird Road and 87th Ave S.W. They've been there a long time. They
have a great mechanic named Francisco.
I do most of my riding by heading south to the Redlands (Homestead area).
Typical rides are 40-60 miles. I'm just starting back after a long lay off
(since early May last year). My friends are really enjoying seeing me suffer
myself back in shape.
Where in Miami did you live? Where are you now? What's life on the road like?
Any problem with banditos?

I live in Miami too. Rickenbaker all the way. I did 30 plus miles today. The bridge is a killer. Where else do you ride. I live in Kendall. Do you know about kendall lakes 4.5 mile loops?
