Hi folks,

I'm considering driving up to Ayer this Friday to do a couple of circuits on the Ayer-Nashua trail. I figure some new scenery and little respite from vehicular traffic might be nice switch. Can anyone give me an idea on how busy that trail would be on a hot Friday between say 11 and 2? My other option is to drive to Harold Parker State Forest in Andover and extend my usual 50 mile route through Boxford and Topsfield out to Salisbury and the coast.

Thanks for the advice

On a weekday, the Nashua River Rail Trail isn't too busy. You'll run across occasional people, but not the hordes that you find on the Minuteman on a Sunday afternoon.

Great ride! I took the train from Concord to Ayer and ride to Nashua. I'm going again this Saturday. Nice trail, good condition and occasional walkers, few bikes. Enough traffic you have to slow down once in a while but not enough to be bothersome. 1 human per 4 minutes....

Thanks for the info.
I did not head out there that weekend, but it is now on my list for the near future.

Where do you live? Don't drive to the trail, ride to it. Why would you drive a car to ride a bike?

Ya, I occasionally ride from the Billerica train station into Ayer. 110 is a pretty rideable route. Road is reasonably wide, low traffic, and no big hills.
