I am interested in a sub-section within the Bike Forums Commuting specific to a geographic location. Has anyone tried this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to encourage more folks in our area to bike commute and have access to more information. I want to create a small forum within a Bike Forums. I am in Hartford, CT area and we have a quasi-gov't group (CT Transit Authority) that sponsors 'bike to work' events the last Friday of each month (April thru Oct.) where they provide a free breakfast to commuters. They do a great job. They have a budget and advertise on buses, lobby for bike lanes, support rail trails, and get local media coverage, etc. The list goes on for what they do. The local TV news station did interviews with commuters every 30 minutes during one event last August. They give away a free bike in November each year from a drawing. Each commuter gets a free ticket for each 'bike to work' they attend. This year it was a top end Breezer. They have about 600 names of riders that do some type of bike commuting in the Hartford area. Thanks

If you want to set up a forum just for bike commuters in the Hartford area, why not set up your own forum.
Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ to find out how.

There are several bike user groups in the Atlanta area that have forums/websites set up there. Here are a few of them.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/livabledekalb/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MetroAtlantaBikers/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GeorgiaBicycleAdvocacy/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IntownCyclists/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NFBUG/

and there is
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bicyclecommuting/
a national bike commuting forum.
