Where can I find it?
What type of chain tensioner is this called?
Will this be useful for a frame with no hanger?
Thanks!

Here's one, but it's not the same one pictured:

You don't want to use that. I tried the Kore on my first SS MTB (2000 I think, before I found this place) and it never worked. Back then it was $50. They are designed for downhill applications. Not SS.

So what should I use for my single-speed road bike that doesn't have a deraileuer hanger?

Is the frame damaged? I think at that point an ENO hub or a magic gear are your only choices.

If you rummage enough, you'll be able to find a slide-in mount that will make a derailleur hanger appear where there once was none. It's how they mounted derailleurs on frames like that way back. Then you can just get a normal tensioner.

Or you could just get a bolt-on axle and turn it into a reggalar-ol' singlespeed. What's the situation where you need a tensioner even though you have semihorizontal dropouts?

Well you see. There is too much slack still on my chain, and it can easily come off the chainring and freewheel if i hit a bump or something. but i can't remove another chainlink or else it'd be too short. so i guess a chain tensioner is the way to go.

:) Hi, try a half link; That is what I did to be able to remove the tensioner on my tandem.

Any decent bike shop should have a half link on hand for less than $2.

If you have the above style of dropout then a half link is your best option.

Why do you need a tensioner if you have horizontal dropouts as you describe?
