"Spanish rider Moisés Dueñas has become the second rider to register a non-negative test for banned blood booster erythropoietin at the Tour de France. The results came from a sample taken from the Barloworld rider after the Grand Tour's first time trial, Stage 4 on July 8 in Cholet, according to head of the French Anti-doping Agency (AFLD) Pierre Bordry.
French authorities reportedly spent two hours searching the rider's room at Le Rex, the team hotel where Barloworld and Bouygues Telecom were staying in Tarbes, France. Only one room is believed to have been searched by French authorities during the morning, number 604 – that of the Spanish rider.
News of Dueñas' test result has spread quickly after confirmation this morning from the senior French anti-doping agency figure, including on LEquipe.fr - a newspaper owned by the same parent company as the Tour. The rider held 19th position on general classification heading into today's Stage 11, which he is unlikely to contest. "

"B" samples can take a few weeks. Depends on how long it takes the rider to request it and whether they exercise their right to review the procedure.
What I want to know is if les flics are finding anything. Not sure how many places there are to hide bags of blood, without someone giving you a hand....

um...not in cycling. Guilty at the first whiff of possibility of guilt, with no opportunity to defend yourself for 1-2 years, then the suspension or whatever starts after the end of the procedure.
How many more?
I think I read where 10 or so riders had abnormal blood samples when they were tested at the beginning of the race. Beltran was one of those - then he got another "random" test, and he was gone. Does anyone know if that was the case here also?

I believe the racing officials said there was nothing random about Beltran's stage one test. Certainly nothing random about the pre-race testing.
I'd like to know if they also tested Duenas after Stage 1, too. It could be he just got snagged by one of the random tests given throughout the Tour.

The last guy to fail a drug test will win.
They need to stop leaking this crap to L'Equipe. There are rules for both sides and they both break them just as often. The difference is there seems to be no consequences for the testing side's violations.

If a rider is tossed out of the Tour, I doubt it can be kept a secret. And the team is unlikely to say a rider left the Tour for having the flu, when they knew he was kicked out.
supposedly, the french did some type of testing or took blood samples from every rider in the days before the tour started. although no one failed a test, there were 20 'suspect' samples. beltran was one. that's why they intentionally tested him again after stage 1. that's the test that came up positive
the barloworld rider's room was searched after his positive test. word is that they found and confiscated some 'banned medicines'

It's still a violation of the rules by the testing agencies.

I found this:
"The 2007 French champion, who finished fourth overall on the Tour in 2001, was in 42nd place overall at nearly six minutes behind overnight leader Kim Kirchen when he decided to call it a day."
He just pulled over when a break went and he couldn't stay with them....if the legs aren't there, the legs aren't there,I guess
Look there are going to be positive tests, if they want to run the dopers out, they are going to have to catch them....ergo positive tests.

They were not "suspect" samples. The tests showed health issues with 10 or so riders that the tour reported to the teams out of concern for the riders health and not to do with failing a drug test.
