Utility Cycling - Put in my Big Dummy request yesterday.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I asked for Albatross bars, a generator lighting system, a stem that would allow a setback seat, a Rolhoff 14-gear hub, stoker bars behind the seat for a snapdeck passenger, and the strongest wheels available. I made it clear that weight wasn't a consideration, as the BD was not built for speed. I wanted to go for a Schlumpf, but the LBS owner talked me out of it as it would jack the price way up and he didn't think that it would do that much for performance.

When the Stokemonkey comes back on the market, I intend to jump on it. I have a good friend who is an Electrical Engineer, and he says that he could install it for me.

As far as my LBS or the local bike club knows, this would be the first Big Dummy in the area, and only the third Xtracycle.

I said "Third Xtracycle", but I perhaps should have said that my BD will be #2A, as I will be stripping my X-ed Fuji down to the frame and rebuilding (details to come.)
