I am going up to spend a vacation in Washington D.C. and I'd like to take a bike with me. I have a connection up there that is willing to let me use a Watterford track bike, but I'm affraid that it would be stolen.

What could I make buy for about $100 that would not be a prime target for theft. So far I thik I have access to an old Trek 400 10 speed(I think?) that I think might work. What would I need to do to have something to be able to ride while I am up there.

As much as I'd like to, I'd rather not take my 1FG up there for some idiot to take everything off of while I am paying my respects.

A kryptonite fughettaboutit (sic) new york chain. It also makes a lovely fashion accessory.

I am sorry, I was meaning about the bike build itself. I work at a shop, so a lock is not a problem.

You need a rear wheel, a cog and a lockring. You should be able to re-use everything else on the bike and make it work.

Agreed. I have one of the first NY Chains. Never even been messed with. Love it. I also run a Evo 2000 Mini on the front wheel/frame. Better safe than sorry. Plus have 2 locks to swing is better than a bagful of batteries anyday.
