Is there some type of rear light, preferably flashing, which fits in the standard reflector mount?

You know those rear reflector mounts which have two holes? Many bike racks these days have them. Like this one:

I want to find a rear light that fits on there instead of those damned stem mounted ones.

I have the Blackburn Mars 2.0.
http://blackburndesign.com/lights.html#mars_2

It has several mounting options, including the one you want. I tried it on a spare reflector, and it worked(gave me a reason to change my batteries). My lbs sells it separate for about $15, or $30 in a headlight combo. good luck

The Planet Bike BRT-5 now comes with a rack mount that has both Euro and American bolt-hole patterns, and (bonus) its lens actually is a legit reflector, besides being a light. It's a good value, so consider that one too.

Catseye made a number of blinkers with two plastic studs to fit in the two holes that are standard on many mounting brackets. Check with your corner bike shop.

so either a mars 1.0 or 2.0?

LBS had a Mars 3.0 yesterday. I'll take a second look if they have a 1.0 or 2.0 or go to another LBS.
