I'm sad and discouraged. Craig's List and EBay always have their bikes sold just before I call, and new bikes (even the "inexpensive" ones) are stinkin' expensive. When do bike shops generally put discounts on their current bikes to empty out space for the new year's models? I realize I will need to be on hand to snap up my size once the sale price hits, but when would I need to start haunting the LBSs? I mean, I DO have a life.

From what I hear, this year may be different than past years on close outs. Many models are already down to what is on hand, and with a 10-15% price increase due on next years models, it's not looking good for the closeout sales that normally happen.

That being said, if you know the model and size you want, it might be a good idea to hit the phone to some of the smaller municipalities within a couple of hours of here that maybe don't have the volume that the DFW shops have.

I think most of the closeouts start in the late fall, but with lead times supposedly longer for the 09 models, I don't really know about this year.
