Greetings! My first post here.
I'm a 6'2, 220lb rider looking for a first road bike. I've been trying to settle on a bike in $1000-1400 range. I’ve looked primarily at Specialized, Fuji, and Trek since I have local dealers for them, and the first two offered C-M frames which at first, I thought I wanted. Then I latched onto the idea of the Trek 2100, mainly because I like that the frames are made domestically and dealers are not hard to find. Unfortunately, no one has a 2100 locally to test ride so I'm thinking about ordering one sight unseen. Is this foolish?
I've tried on a Trek 1500 for size and it was OK, perhaps a little long w/ the stock set up on the 58 frame--the 2100 by comparison is a few millimeters shorter in the top tube and the seat tube is set a half degree steeper, so if anything, the fit should be better for me.
The flex modulus of the 2100/2200 frames (I found a test somewhere on the net) is very close to steel so I can’t imagine the ride will be worse than the 1500 (which does not have the 2100’s CF seat stays)
Any opinions on the 2100/2200 Trek bikes?
Thanks,
-Dave
