Tour de France - Who's next?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Apparently Ricco was banking on the assumption that the current generation of EPO wasn't detectible.
You have to think he wasn't the only one playing that card.

I'd love a bookmaker to give an over/under on the number of riders who will be caught before the end of the tour.

great idea! At least that result would be solid.
(unlike collecting for a Landis victory or tearing up your Periero ticket!)

Wouldn't surprise me if Schumacher is also popped.

Evans, I hope. i can't stand that smarmy POS.
I guarantee it won't be a french rider. At this point a French rider could probably ride to the stage start with an EPO drip and not get tossed.
I would guess Schumaker...maybe EPO makes you extremely ugly?
In a way this is good. Saunier Duval would have thrown a wrench into the overall GC when the tour hits the Alps. Now that they are gone the "clean" 4-5 GC contenders can have at it w/o having to cover those dopers' moves.
CavendishBecause he has a fast sprint? If he was using any of the current selection of what's popular he wouldn't be making a quiet attempt at the lanterne rouge.

This would be disastrous for Pro-cycling in America.
I sincerely hope that nobody on Garmin-Chipotle tests non-negative for anything.

So where are the 20 or so riders that were included in this blood anamoly thing reported by l'equipe. The next doper has got to come out of that bunch. Cyclingnews reported that Moreau abandoned because he was worried that he would test positive....not that the frenchies would target him anyway.

Did they? Not that this is at all surprising, but do you have a link to that story?

I thought there were 10. Wouldn't be surprised if Geronsteiner had one or two. Nobody else seems to be riding way over their head in this tour though, so hopefully it's all over but the shouting.

Not Chavanel, not Voeckler, and definitely not Gilbert. They're all clean.
I would guess Schumaker...maybe EPO makes you extremely ugly? :roflmao: It is supposed to make you bald. See Barney 'bout that.
Speculation with no knowledge serves no purpose.
I just hope they do not get a positive on one of the " Mr Clean" badge wearing teams like High Road or Slipstraeam (Columbia and Garmin Chipote)
Who cares. Lets all freak out because somebody got busted....

Why? This year the busts seem to all be EPO. EPO is not a sprinters drug.

Except for Vande Velde. I sincerely hope he's clean. But he's had quite a jump in performance. It's a long way from winning the Tour of Luxenbourg to competing for a podium spot in the TDF.
I'm hopeful that the explanation is that this is the first year he's been free to ride for himself for GC.

Vaughters also said in an interview that there had been a long term nerve problem that caused him to basically ride with power in only one leg. He said they found the cause and corrected it and that has made a big difference in his power output.

I hope so too, especially given the very public stance of his team. To be fair, he may have ridden out of his mind given his previous palmares, but all he's really done so far is not crack in one Massif Central and two Pyrenees stages, and ride a good TT (which he's always been good at).

If those two teams plus CSC who is also playing the clean game gets through without incident then that should help drive the point home. Now we just need an american to come back and take an overall win.. That would piss people off to no end I bet...

There are thousands of non-doping posts on BF for every doping post. If you see nothing but doping posts then your not looking very hard.
Top 3 threads currently are about doping..and who is next....

Chopper does not post on Bike Forums so I will stand by my last response :) All in good fun of course. I am sick of all the doping talk as well but NOW i find it more interesting then usual. How can anyone much less an athlete who knows what the risks are still cheat in this day and age? How can the risk justify the reward?
God I hope it's not Wim Vansevenant. He's really working hard to get the red jersey. EPO will screw that up.
Dumb people who think they are invincible do stupid things.

Won't have the chance.
I doubt very much it will be VDV. I think he would have attacked if he had the legs (aided or otherwise).
I could see Schumaucher getting popped. Not so sure about Moreau's abandonment.
Cavendish. Nope. Like others have said wrong drug for sprinters.

I'm not so sure about that, if it takes about 7-10 days for the results, then Piepoli's test from stage 10 is pending.

True enough. Sorry I wasnt even thinking about that. I was thinking more along the lines of who will be kicked out next.

It's pretty obvious Craig Hummer is doping. He's way ahead of Bob, Phil and Paul when it comes to predicting stage winners.
