Classic & Vintage - Nishiki mountain bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
On the way to work today I caught a glimpse of two bikes on the side of the road, I kept driving hence being late by 2 hours, anyway on the way back both where there I took a nishiki, it looks fairly old but it works, just needed a seat, any idea when it was made?

I can narrow it down but I can't pin it down to one year. I'm fairly sure it's a Canadian model. Based on the rims, I'm guessing it's a 1989 -1991 model, possibly a 93, but not newer than that. The Expedition was a mid to lower end model, but not the lowest model. Typically there were two to four models below the Expedition, depending on the year. That's the best I can do. Maybe T-Mar or someone else can fill provide more precise information.
For a old bike it is fairly light, I think it will look nice when I finish it, every day now I get atleast two bikes given to me or I find them, i'm running out of room lol
The Expedition was indeed a Canadian model, but it may be slightly lower on the scale than suggested by roccobike. It is also older than 1989. Both the 1989 and 1990 versions employed a U-brake on the rear and were hi-tensile frames. Besides the absence the U-brake, the other feature that indicates an older model is the cable routing above the bottom bracket. Pending further evidence (such as the serial number or component date codes) my estimate, based on the decals and cable routing, would be 1987.
