There was a hill I attempted 6 weeks ago and had to walk it halfway: climb is 500ft over 0.8 mile. Is this considered a steep hill? (felt like it).

Yesterday, I made it all the way up in middle chainring, non-stop, standing on the pedals. Kept thinking "just to the next light pole" and kept passing them. Legs are totally sore today, and achilles tight... will need a day or two off to heal 'em. Also first consecutive day under 200lbs.

Way to go. Standing that much is hard work. Your legs must be getting very strong.

Nice work! Climbing gets easier the more you do it.

Congrats on both! Hills are just weakness leaving the body, remember that. (Also can be applied to pain, rain, and pretty much anything else uncomfortable :D)

12% grade over .8 mile-that would be steep for me! nice work!

Yeah, still sore today but rode 16 easier miles. Thanks for the encouragement! I'm thinking of hitting this hill every 3 days if my legs hold up...
