Hi gang,
just wondering if anyone has tried grabbing the dahon style vertical handlebar posts (the ones that go straight up and down as opposed to angled back with the frame) and tried to fit them on a non-dahon bike?

Just wondering if this is a proprietary part or if it would fit on most any bike... thanks.

I believe that the pre-2005 Dahon handleposts will work with any folder that has a standard 1 1/8 steer tube and a threaded fork. The one I'm thinking of is here (part #DAHONSTAJ118):

Yes, I have used a dahon 1-1/8 " quill type handlepost and put it on a Downtube INXS. It worked well, gave me about an inch or more reach.

I'm not using it anymore, if you are interested.

The current Dahon alloy posts are not suitable unless you are handy and can make a part or 2 to adapt it.
