Team Columbia is not a brand new team.

I don't think I'd nit pick Phil Liggett. I'm sure he knows the heritage of that team, he's just plugging the new sponsor

Found this:
"In June 2008, Columbia Sportswear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia_Sportswear) announced a three year sponsorship of the team beginning with the 2008 Tour de France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Tour_de_France). Prior to this they were without a name sponsor,"
There we go...so in Tour terms, they are a "new" team

But picking nits is one of the greater pleasures life has to offer!
Why else would BF be so popular?

Nit pick : originally referring to literal removal of the pests.
lots of references to head lice removal
Origins seems to be the mid 1950's

But wait . . . wasn't High Road their major sponsor (now a minor sponsor) before Columbia?
And here I was, buying all those "High Road" things to support their team! What will I do with all these un-used High Roads now? Useless, I say, just useless.

High Road is the team name not a sponsor. Each team has a management company that then gets sponsors to give them money. High Road is the management company and team name. Columbia is just the main sponsor. Similiar to in NASCAR Bud sponsors a car but then DEI owns the car.
High Road/Columbia is a new team as in just about a year old. That being said they are really just a reorganized T-Mobile.

Welcome to my poor wife's nemesis - she tries to keep up with my passion for the sport, and is constantly confused as to who is riding for what team. Even when they don't change teams. Most frustrating is [this year's pharmaceutical}-Lotto. That one REALLY confuses her.
