How durable are bladed spokes compared to others? Say on a 32 spoke hub on an average areo rim.. Do they hold up under normal use ~ say commuting, etc?

dunno...I usually run 14/15 gauge. Never done the bladed thing. Might be a little much for a commuter, but it is your $$$. I bet those spokes will shred the playing card you use to make the "motorcycle" sound though WK...

I'm going stealth. My card will be made of super quiet anti shred material.

Raises some good points about using bladed spokes, though not much on the use for commuting.

I have not used bladed but I have used aero spokes. I would say they last about the same as the regular gauge spokes.
Are they faster or worth the price? Maybe, but it's kind of fun to play with something new and different.

Durability is what I'm looking at. I've found a set of wheels that match what I"m looking for, and they are a decent price. The bladed spokes are the "unknown" per se.

bladed have the advantage of knowing when they're twisting when you tighten them, and when they're simply pulling the rim in. Sheldon uses bladed I think, so I'd think they're fine for ordinary use.

I have not seen any problems with bladed spokes, EXCEPT, Ritchey wheels sold on Specialized bikes. Those rascals popped like gum. Ritchey sent us replacements that did not have this problem. If you had the new and old spokes in your hand you could tell the difference, the ones with the breaking problem felt brittle.

I have a feeling I'm gonna get out bought on the rims. 6 days to go and I already got out bid once, and really.. they might be tooo nice for a commuter.
