Touring - Nitto Classic Handlebar widths

Anyone out there have the Nitto Classic bars? I am trying to decide between the 42 cm and 45 cm. Since they are flared somewhat they are measured at the drops (maximal width there). But I want to find out what the width's are at the hoods. Anyone have a pair that they could measure?

I think they are only flared 1 degree, so the difference should be minimal. If I could remember my high school trig, I would give you the exact number, but it is somewhere around 5 mm less than at the drops.

I think the flare might be more. I saw a pair of the 40 cm and the flare was about 2 cm. They were much more narrow at the hoods than I would have expected.

I can't help you with the classics , but I almost went crazy trying to measure for some randonee bars. Where exactly do you measure? especially if you are measuring bars on another bike which are taped?
Anyway I got them and although I think they are slightly narrower on the tops I have to tell you I really love the flared drops (randos are flared slightly more I think). This is the first time I am comfortable (in 30 years!) riding in the drops- all because of the flair. Good luck with your bars and post to let us know how you like them.

I got my bars, installed them and went for my first ride with them today.

I decided to go with the 45 cm version. They are 45 cm at the very end of the drops (where the plugs go). There is a very smooth taper going all they back to the flats. At the hoods they are 42 cm (depending where you mount the brakes) and they keep tapering to the flats.

Overall they are very nice bars, especially for the price ($27). They have a nice finish and feel and are pretty lightweight.

In retrospect though I probably should have gone with the 42 cm version. I am not a large person so the 45 cm are a bit wide for me. It's not bad though, and when climbing it is nice to have the width but 42 would have been a little more ideal. Oh Well. I can always swap them later.

Good to hear. I have a pair of Nitto Randos on the way now. Thinking about the natural position that my hands and wrists want to be in, flared drops make perfect sense- hope they live up to my expectations.

Overall they are very nice bars, especially for the price ($27).

They were selling at Speedgoat for $27 a week ago. Looks like they bumped the price up to $38 now. Jenson USA has them for $35. They seem worth the higher price though considering the price of the noodle and the quality.

I don't know if the ramps are as flat as the noodle because I have never compared them side by side. The way I have it set up though, the ramp is fairly level to the ground and doesn't slope much at all. I don't like them too steep myself but these feel good. The thing I didn't like about the noodle (from the pictures), is that the tops look overly curved around the bend (they seem to bend backwards towards the rider). I wanted a straighter top area.

If you're talking about the 115 I would definitely go with the 45. Mine measure right around 42 at the hoods.
