If you're ever down in the NC area, it's worth doing a little searching to find someone who offers them.

You will very happy you went to the effort......

For those zooming through on I-77 or future I-74 going to the coast, you might try some of the stores around Mt Airy and south!!!

Thought you were talking Frames for a minute- but "Fried" Pies?

Be worth making the trip to see if they were any good.

Krispy Kreme (mentioned in the story) really destroyed the quality of their product when they went to highly mechanized production and eliminated the use of lard.

Nope. That's a moon pie and an RC Cola!

I didn't know that. Neither did/does my taste buds. KK still makes the best doughnuts I know of anywhere.

What the heck is a moon pie? And by soda, I assume you mean POP!

Edit: Never mind, I looked it up. The packaging is cool, but what can be so magical about graham crackers with marshmallow filling? Up here that would be a failed s'more.

I like this packaging better...I thought they were yellow! I liked the idea of yellow chocolate:

The yellow ones are banana.

Try a moon pie nuked for 10-15 seconds. Yummmmy. Of course, YMMV.

Moon Pie might not be but we have a biscuit over here called Wagon Wheels. One of the first "Sweets" I can remember having when Sweet rationing came off after the war---2nd World war in case I get any comments about my age. They tasted great to a 4 year old and just as good now.

Wagon Wheels look exactly the same except you Americans have to have it bigger and better- We only have a single layer of Mallow.

Westons Wagon Wheels in Australia, too!

Speedlever, you don't know donuts until you've had Tim Hortons. Krispy Kremes are just a mere cardboard imitation of a donut.

And Tim Bits... well, once you start on a box of them, you can't stop. I can't wait to get back there in August to gobble... errrr.... partake of this Canadian delicacy.

I guess I've been away for too long. Your right - the Big Orange goes with the Fish Sandwich and the RC goes with the moon pie - what was I thinking... See what happens when you can't find a Piggly Wiggly anywhere within 600 miles!

I'm certainly willing to put it to the test! Sadly, no TH within 50 miles of my zip code (max search distance allowed). I can't/don't stop very often at KK either. Not healthy, no matter how many miles I ride. But it would be dangerous to put a box in front of me.
