Hey

I've got the Rocky Mtn Solo CXR 2008. Fantastic bike except for one thing. The Easton Fork EC70X chatters so bad when using the front brake that it' pretty much renders the brake useless. Had anyone else had this problem with the fork and if so what have they done about it. I'm thinking of sending it in for warrenty inspection but not convinced they're going to find anything as my LSB (not where I bought it) says this is a known problem with the fork. Watcha all think?

describe "chatters." i've dealt with a lot of squeals, and 95 percent of the time the brake pads needed to be toed in.

Two thinks you may want to try:

1. Ensure that your stem/headset is on snug. If there is space under the stem the fork may not be on tight.

2. Get good brake pads, such as something from kool-stop.

My fork no longer chatters.

I was told by a bike shop that its because of the carbon fork being so light that it shudders/chatters, and to basically accept it. It happens only at low speeds, but then again if youre slamming down the brakes at a high speed the last thing you care about is a chatter.

The chatter I'm experiencing is equivalant to having anti-lock brakes on the front wheel. The fork violently shutters to and frowhen the brake is locked.

As for toeing in the brake pads, have tried them all the way from heavily toed at the front to clamping at the back.

Will take the suggestion about buying new pads, just have been too busy to source out the right pads. Other thought I had was to put a better pair of brakes on the bike such as spooky or empella.

thanks
