I am looking at new road bikes. One that I am seriously considering (test ride pending), has Shimano R540 wheels. I am 6'1" and weigh 200lbs. Are these low spoke count wheels going to hold up? I don't mind truing them now and then, but don't want to be breaking spokes.

I dunno about the weight issue... I have been riding these since last summer, and really like them... I've heard they hold up pretty well... I may be a bad case to look at.. my weight at it's heaviest last year was about 174... down to about 162 now though... 5'10"

They may hold up, but you will notice flexing when you sprint. The rims can move over 2mm left to right while sprinting, which is only a problem if you race.

CHEERS.
