One of my buddies with a citizen bag pointed out that, because when you cycle you're shoulder-checking over your left shoulder, it's safer to use a right-shoulder mess bag.

It makes complete sense to me. Thoughts?

Thats why I got my seagull for the right shoulder. But that only applies when your in the bike lane on the right. But if you swing your bag to your side while riding it'll be to the left which is less convenient if your right handed. Either way I like mine on the right, but that doesn't necesarilly mean it's "safer" just easier I suppose.

i wear a right shoulder bag, and i mirror check it fairly often when i am looking or cutting through between cars

thanks. I have caught a right shoulder bag on a parked car mirror before. during an alley cat i think
I will still continue to wear right shoulder bags

i wear right shoulder bags because i am left handed and it lets me dig in them with my left hand

right shoulder bags are intended for lefties, and left shoulder bags are in tended for righties.

I've never had a problem while on the road looking over my left shoulder, and similar to what court said about snagging it on a car, i would want the high side of the bag on my left to lessen chances of snagging it on things that i am passing.

I'm right handed and have ridden with a right shoulder bag for years. I had it made that way because it's what's comfortable for me.

Compared to a backpack, a messenger bag poses very little obstruction.

when riding with a left-shoulder bag, i just duck my head a bit and check for traffic through my left armpit.
