Okay, I'm a big fan of campy, but I just rode a dura ace bike and the shifting is really smooth! we can talk about all the great things about campy, but bottom line, which do you think shifts better and runs smoother?

They both shift great when new. Older stuff is a diffeent story. The old saying goes "Campy wears in, Shimano wears out." I just replaced my bb, chainrings and cassette after 8 years and about 12K miles. The shifters and derailleurs still work fine- and I have Mirage, which at the time I bought it was Campy's low end. Now it is one up (Xenon is the bottom), and 9 speed instead of my 8. One thing I really like is the 2 separate shifting actuators. Everytime I ride a friend's bike with STI, I tap the brakes while trying to shift. I also like the semi-friction front shifter- it allows better trimming of the front derailleur. Just my opinion, but that's what you asked for.
