So I spend somewhere around 6-8 hours time spread out between a few days spoking a new rim to my golden motor and truing it myself the best I can. I was all excited when I got it all back together and I could ride it once again. I take my bike outside and thought I should adjust my rear breaks. As soon as I get done with that, the bike bolts out from underneath me! :wtf: It falls over and the motor just keeps on spinning. I had to disconnect the power. I have no clue what made it do such a thing, but now the throttle has broken off. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them?

did the motor come loose from the spokes?
remove the throttle, lift up the rear wheel give it power see if the controller is damaged. if it spins without the throttle theres a problem.
i have controllers coming in, but im still working on the aluminum throttles. and i get the first one;)

If this is a brushed motor, you may have a bad controller as they fail in the on position.
If this is brushless, most likely you have a stuck throttle. Short the throttle input to bat- (0V) it should not spin. Apply 4V it should spin full speed.

Well, I now have no throttle. It busted apart during this fiasco. I don't have a clue how to hold up the back end and connect the battery at the same time. seams impossible lol

Hang it from the 'nose' of the seat from a rafter in the ceiling or a tree branch, or a chin up bar at the park, or a clothesline or something. Cheap way to work on your bike. Make sure that seat-post clamp is tight, oh wait, nevermind. Hanging some 60+ pounds from the seat might bend a post or seat rails. I forgot we were talking about HEAVY motorized bikes, nevermind. Good luck. Or try at your own risk.
