I've got an old frame with 700c wheels but no brakes. What do I need to measure to figure out what the reach of my brakes needs to be?
thanks

Tim

thanks. I was thinking it was something simple like that, but I needed some back-up.

short reach = 39-49mm
standard reach = 47-57mm
I don't know about long reach but you won't need those anyway unless you are restoring an antique. And even then you are more likely to need standard reach.

PS- those measurements are not gospel. They vary a little from brand to brand.

PSS- and be aware that Nashbar mislabels standard reach Shimano sidepulls as "long reach" sidepulls.
