I can't seem to make up my mind. I need new rims for this bike regardless, but will it suffice just then?

I am boggled.

Two bikes is always better than one.

if it's a higher-end miyata, might be cool, but if it's like a 210, don't do it.

Unless you love tinkering with bikes, get the Kilo.

Do the opposite of what this guy said. If it's a higher-end Miyata keep it geared like it wants to be.

building a bike yourself is fun

my suggestion was based on the higher end models possibly using lighter steel, and could result in a more desirable conversion in the end. as far as leaving gears on bikes, that's almost another conversation.

Miyatas were some of the most well-made production bikes around. Even the lowest models (90, 110, 210) were great riders and would make more than worthy conversions.

Aren't the Kilos always oversold/on back order?

I believe the Miyata line may have used the same frame across all or most of the models. What separated them was components and wheelsets. I once had a 310 converted to fixed that was really quite nice.

But in this case I too would buy the Kilo and keep the Miyata.

+1 Ride a variety of bikes. My 910 will never be converted.

Edit: quotation fix

Better frame on the Miyata more than likely.

all the more reason to keep it geared.

and yeah, i'd totally keep to having two bikes...IMO, more legit to not just have a fixed gear as a "primary" bike. and the fixed will just make the form on your geared bike better anyways.

Alright guys, Kilo it is.

I'll keep the Miyata geared, but fix it up little by little along the way.
